Operating on a 68HC11 CPU. Remote Unit interfacing with 2 electronic micrometers, a 2x16 char LCD display, and an IRDA-compatible interface. I designed all hardware and software and did all of
the programming in C. The operating system is proprietary.
Industrial Pinhole Detector - I designed all hardware, PCB’s, software, and firmware. Programmed in C using a 68HC11 CPU. Unit consisted of Controller Assembly including Power Supply, 2 – 3-phase AC Motor Drivers, Lamp Power Supply for 4 – 40W Fluorescent IR Lamps, a Programmable Power Supply for up to 24 PMT’s, all of which is operated through a 16K gate FPGA. There is a Remote Operator Interface with a 4x20 char LCD display, a 4 position keypad, and various fault displays operating up to 300ft. from the Controller Interface. There are also PCB Assemblies for Dual or Quad PMT’s with up to 6 assemblies possible covering up to 96” of detector area. The operating system is proprietary.
  • HDS, Inc. - Senior Staff Scientist

1985 - 1990 Work with customers to determine their real needs and how best to fill them. Prepare estimates, system architectures, preliminary designs for proposals. Manage a small group of engineering support personnel.
Designed and patented an algorithm and hardware for a real-time surveillance-quality digital video scrambler.
Designed an interface for recording digital data on a standard VCR at 1.4Mbits/sec for applications tolerant of some errors. Designed a low-distortion, wide dynamic range Dual-Loop AGC circuit and a high quality PLL-synthesized subcarrier modulator for audio.
Defined a system for remote data acquisition of 16-bit analog and digital data through up to 21Km of fiber-optic cable. Designed most of the modules to implement the system.
Developed a precision battery-powered ultrasound thickness gauge; micropower audio log amplifiers and modulators; and miscellaneous microprocessor-based and programmable logic array-based
    signal processing and transmission systems.
