  • The World Memory Film Project - Member Board of Advsisors

2013 - maintenant The World Memory Film Project, a non-profit based in Virginia. In development since mid-2012, the WMFP is a worldwide effort using social networks to mobilize young people in every country for the prevention of future genocides, wherever they occur, through the power of personal filmmaking. It is a groundbreaking initiative that offers global youth a platform to express their opinions and perceptions about the genocides suffered by many peoples, and about their connection with xenophobia.

The project’s emphasis is on hope for a better future via transformative power of healing, reconciliation, and love. Forward looking, the WMFP has created a new word, “xenocide” for the new generation, thereby tying “xenophobia “ to “genocide”, bringing focus on the pathways to genocide that begin with exclusionary practices.

In its first phase, through 2015, the WMFP will create a feature-length documentary called “Exit Xenocide" based on thousands of three-minute “video stories” against genocide posted over the internet by young filmmakers from around the world (crowdsourcing). These stories can be emotional reactions, artistic expressions, or testimonials of one’s own family or cultural experience. In future years, many more action plans will be implemented, with the objective of creating a worldwide peaceful lobbying force of young people, in favor of human understanding and mutual respect. Among the international partners of the WMFP are ISESCO, the UNITAS Foundation, and the United Nations Office of the Special Advisor to Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon on the Prevention of Genocide. Additionally, the WMFP has garnered support from top personalities in Hollywood and elsewhere.

The World Memory Film Project is getting support from a number of very influential people across the globe. Visit: http://www.worldmemoryfilmproject.org/ and remember: The Revolution Starts With Your Film...
