Welcome to my Viadeo Profile. I don’t often talk about the past, as only the future really matters, isn’t it ? But I will make an exception as I’m supposed to introduce myself in this summary:
In 1998, I have turned a passion (Stock Market) into a full-time job. Indeed, after several years as President and Treasurer of Investment Clubs during my college years, I started my career at BBL Asset Management.
Initially managing country funds, I then became responsible for some thematic funds. These were the days when most Investment Managers were “generalists” (multi-sectors). I had some preference for Technology and Telecoms already. I was also responsible for all derivative trades (options and futures) into the equity products. After a few years, I specialized into the Telecom sector and the management of a small team of Equity analysts covering Telecoms, Media, Utilities and Energy.
In 2004, we integrated the Brussels and Den Hagen offices to become ING Investment Management Europe. I became responsible for the Telecom & Media sectors on a global basis. I kept managing all the Telecom sector funds but also advised (Analyst role) the generalist Portfolio Managers across the globe for ING.
Essentially, during the last 5 years, I travelled the world to meet the companies under coverage both at investor relations and management level (CEO and CFO). My Telecom trips took me from Latin America (Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile) to Asia (India, Indonesia, South Korea, HK, Japan). I’ve always been a big believer in the emerging markets wireless opportunity. Micro-payments, and machine-to-machine wireless technologies are two other huge under-penetrated markets in my view…
I have now a broad knowledge and experience in Telecoms (companies, regulators, and technology providers) and I have been investing successfully in the stock market since I am 17 years old (that’s 18 years of experience for third party & own money, with 2 major bull & bear markets).

10 contactsIn 2008, I realized a long-time dream: launch a start-up company on an innovative idea on the Internet: www.disy.be was born.
From setting-up the company, protecting the idea, finding the right people, building partnerships, raising some funding (sponsors), programming (XHTML/CSS, PHP and mySQL ) and organizing a press-conference, the learning curve has been quite steep.
My goal is now to continue to learn from this interesting experience and take it to the next level … (in the short term, that means a more professional Website (re-design) with some Web2.0 functionalities (Facebook Direct Connect, etc) and more partnerships … story to be continued ;-))
Day-to-day coaching and management of team of 2 equity analysts specialized in Global Telecoms & Media (Managing €300 million with an excellent track record both in terms of risk and return).
In-depth company analysis combining quantitative, qualitative and Tracking KPIs for the different countries into one clear investment opinion. The analysis is based on different valuation techniques, though mainly using a DCF-based approach.
Output: Company Reports, Morning Meeting comments, Sector Outlook Reports, which are presented to institutional investors.
During the last 11 years, I acquired an in-depth knowledge of shareholder value drivers, valuation tools, financial products and financial markets.
