Pierre Léonard

I am the co-founder of Virtual Words, a company that provides a full set of services linked to the language industry to clients across Europe, Northern America and Asia. My official function is labeled "Director of International Sales and Development".

The company was founded in 1999 with a staff of two. Six years later, Virtual Words is a mid-size player on the European market of language industry with a team of 8 and a worldwide network of some 2,000 language professionals.

As a result, Virtual Words has the capacity to translate 5,000,000 words a year from and into some 40 European and Asian languages, to send teams of simultaneous translators in any major city in the world, and to subtitle/adapt 500 hours of interactive or audiovisual content each year.

With offices in Europe(Brussels, Belgium) and North America (Denver, CO) the company provides a full set of services associated with multilingual communication to clients in a dozen countries. These clients are large corporations but also SME's or public bodies, and are active in various industries, from IT to automotive and from film industry to marketing & PR.

The main services the company offers include :
- written or simultaneous translation
- website localisation
- multilingual copywriting and proofreading
- subtitling, reversioning and transcription of audiovisual and interactive material
- DTP and layout
- consulting on language-related matters
- project management for projects involving cross-lingual or cross-cultural communication.

As a consequence, I have a clear understanding of how the language industry works, and I will be happy to provide answers or advice on this specific matter.

Currently, my main assignment is to lead and foster the process of internationalisation Virtual Words is going through.
